How to Chase/ Escalate the File

Hello Guys.

need some advise with regards to my wife's spouse visas. (settlement visas)

the application was made from Mumbai, India on the 6th of March 2017, got a letter from home office or UKVI on the 20th March, Sheffield that all the documents were recd and copies are being retained to assess the application. (regular application, not a priority one )

Till today, 02 June 2017 there is no update on the same.

status check on the 13 April got the reply saying " your application has not yet been assessed by an Entry
Clearance Officer "

Then on the 4th May 2017, again, a status check and their reply "there are no current updates. This could be because your application was submitted recently or the details that you have provided above are incorrect."

Made a phone call as well, £1.37 a minute, they said file will be opened mid may

Then again on the 30th May 2017, did another status check and their reply " and found that there are no current updates. "

My wondering is that case already in process or the case hasnt yet even opened ?

Or is there a way to actually chase it up or perhaps escalate this bit ?
and get some update on it ?

on their website it says, Most applications are processed within 60 working days, is this SLA changed to perhaps 6 months ?

Next time try asking status for the VAF number you've received.

All this while i have been enquiring with my GWF number and the response has been, GWF not available in the system, no status on the GWF number etc etc. Last time i tried my VAF number and they gave me a status that the application is under consideration and is awaiting approvals. I paid 40 pounds just to get this piece of information. its a rip off but least you get a status on the application.

There is no way to chase or escalate file sitting in the home country unless the sponsor can get in touch with the local MP and check.

The trend looks like applicants from India have received their visas who had applied in last week of Feb. Hopefully next week March applicants may get lucky. Fingers crossed.

@Zubbshah,

You have good ground for escalation once you go past the 12 week time frame. I think in your case, it would be the 6th of June.

You can either call/email UKVI and request that your case be escalated or you can contact your Solicitor (if you have one) to send a letter to Sheffield asking for an update and requesting an escalation.

Alternatively, you can get your MP to contact UKVI on your behalf for an update and I have found this to be the fastest route.

I have also in same satiation
applied spouse visa on 10 March 2017
email them on 31st March received reply decisions has been made
but after that when ever i emailed them reply they sent me No update of your application either its new or you have wrong details

Really surprised regarding their services

still waiting for reply i have seen Mach applicant start receiving reply from UKV1

yes this link works absolutely fine.... i tried with the GWF number and could get the status, i did have a VAF number, however when i tried with IHSxxxxxx number (immi health surchage number) it came up as invalid ref number, so id suggest try with all the possible reference number you have and you will get an update.

my wifes visas have come through and will be soon coming over to uk, today early on when shd recd her file,
she only get a letter and her passport.

all the other documents are here, especially her TB Certificate.

So will she need to do a TB test again and get that certificate when she comes along or the old one, just a photo copy will be ok ? or perhaps she doesnt need the old one , considering its been verified with UKVI during her application

When i called this morning they said my file is under consideration and is awaiting decision since 18th April. I thought may be availing the email service could get me this information on email.

The email i got right after availing the email service where i asked for my status was---

that is a standard generic email to comply with their Service Commitments - Customer Charter

If we can’t make a decision within the service standards
If there is a problem with your application or if it is complex, we will write to explain why it will not be decided within the normal standard. We will write within the normal processing time for the 8 week standard and within 12 weeks for the 6 month standard. The letter will explain what will happen next.

Next time you contact them I would advise to remind them of this paragraph and request the "specific reason"

You might not get anywhere, but at least you can challenge on their own Standard Commitment.

this link is for everyone, as far as i am aware it works for cases from every national, however the funny part is a friend of mine case is not shown even though he tried gwf and ihs number, so not sure how it works though....

my wifes tb certificate is here with me in the UK and the certificate states "you must carry this certificate in your hand luggage .....etc" so now do i need to courier this certificate back to India and she needs to get it along or perhaps its ok for her for carry a photo copy of it ?

or perhaps on a safer side should i ask her to do TB Test again and get a new certificate ?

Don't do another test cos it won't be connected to your current application. A photocopy is enough.
