Difference between ILR and PR?

Hello Guys,

I have a question about PR.

I am a non eea member married to a polish national . Our marriage lasted for 4 years and then divorced .I have been in the UK for 7 years initially on Student visa.
Now in oder to get PR, do I need to first apply for the retained rights of residence and complete 5 year period or just wait until the current 5 year residence card expire and then apply for a permanent residence?
