EEA FP application assistance

Post by MikePasso » Fri Jun 09, 2017 7:46 am

Hi there,

I am an EEA national (Cypriot) currently living with my non EEA wife in France. As a result she has an Article 10 residency permit valid for five years. I have a few questions that I have been unable to find clarity on after browsing through these forums and other sources online. I have been provisionally accepted (I will meet the provisions once my undergrad results are released in July) to study my masters degree in the UK and so my wife and I will be moving there in August. We started the online application for an EEA FP a few weeks back and submitted it. We were then waiting to book an appointment date that was convenient to us as the interview centre is far away. During this time we found out that she is able to travel to the UK on her Article 10 residency card and so we popped over for three days to have a look around where we will be living. She received a stamp in her passport that is valid for six months. This is where we start to have a few questions. I know that it is advised that we still obtain a FP, which is what we intend to do, however in the FP application it is asked to list when you have visited the UK. Since submission we have now visited the UK, however we found no option to edit the application or withdraw it to make another, could this count against us? Secondly, what exactly does the stamp she received upon entering the UK on an article 10 residency card mean? I have read that she can enter and live in the UK with that, but we would prefer to have the Family Permit. Thirdly, as I will be studying and am the sponsor, I am expected to get Injury and Sickness cover. Am I expected to have this to apply for the Family Permit or is this just necessary once I've arrived in the UK?

Thank you in advance for any help or advice, the gov website can be tricky to understand.

Hi Mike,

I've had the same issue where after printing the application I realised I accidentally wrote the incorrect date of birth which is quite a crucial detail. So I calles HO to ask what to do and was advised to just fill a new application within the same account and book an appointment within that new application.

I hope that makes sense.
