Dear Forum members,
I am not eligible to use search function so apologies if this has been answered elsewhere.
I have looked at this thread:
british-citizenship/dual-national-an-ap ... l#p1157471
Both Gyfrinachgar and CR001 have posted different replies. Gyfrinachgar stated that both nationalities need to be fitted in the section 1.9. Whilst CR001 stated that it is based on the passport you are using for your application (i.e. I am understanding this as only 1 nationality needs to be entered).
From my understanding and reading this (and completing quite a few HO forms in my last 10 year life in the UK), this field is to be completed by providing 1 nationality, otherwise, as per other HO forms, it would ask if the applicant holds any other nationalities. Anyone else with dual nationalities encountered this when completing the AN form?
My situation is that I am a dual national (Mongolia and Russia). Surnames on both Mongolian and Russian passports are different. The time that I have lived in the UK and most my life was under Mongolian nationality and passport. All my documents (i.e. BPR, Degrees, employment contracts, all of them) were done under the Mongolian nationality and passport. My parents have decided to apply for a Russian citizenship for myself when I was 15 years old, so I really didn't have any say or understanding if I even needed it. HO does have records of my Russian nationality and of my Russian passport, and what complicates the situation is that my Russian passport has expired 7 years ago and I have never renewed it (as I have never used it as per above statement). My surname in Russian passport is different to the one in Mongolian passport and BPR.
I am thinking of inputting my Mongolian nationality under section 1.9 only. I will provide my Russian surname under section 1.8, and will provide also supplementary information about my Russian nationality, expired passport, different surname in Russian passport vs BPR/Mongolian passport. that I have never used on page 22 of the AN form ("Further information not covered in other sections").
Truly looking forward to your opinion on this.
Many thanks!
