Family Settlement Spouse Visa

Post by naresh_buch » Tue Jun 13, 2017 5:31 pm

My wife is applying for this visa as I have ILR. We got some worst experience at VFS in Mumbai

1 We have been informed to deliver all our document to UK BA Sheffield with Return prepaid post to deliver document back to India. I have tried many options to find out any such services available which is acceptable to UK BA. Hence I am calling all document to my UK address and then add silver colour prepaid Royal Mail envelope and send it to them

Can anybody who has filed such visa from India have come across such circumstances and reacted
Can I post the documents with Self-address envelope without stamp as its difficult to find Royal Mail stamps in India?

2.I have my marriage certificate laminated since its very old and difficult to get even record to get the duplicate. I would like to know do they allow laminated marriage certificate as a proof of marriage?

Quick Response is much more appreciated

Hi Naresh,

Are you in India now?

If so, use Fedex or DHL. They will do a round-trip service or even just India - UK/UK-UK

If you're in the UK it's fine to send the documents from here and have them returned here.

My wife is in Russia. I brought all of the documents back to UK with me and sent them from here with a return envelope for my UK home address. Similarly in Russia they no longer scan and you must send to Sheffield yourself.

You need a pre-paid return otherwise you will not get the original documents back.

As to marriage certificate, if it is legible, apostilled, translated and notarised, should be fine.

Hope this helps.
Simon
I'm not an expert and only answer from my personal experience and understanding of the rules. Spouse Settlement Visa Granted for my wife July 2017. You should not take my advice as absolute.
