Hello hello,
I need a bit of advice regarding a change of T2 sponsors that I'm about to go through. I've read through quite a few posts earlier covering notice periods and all of the complications they bring, but my situation is a bit unique.
As far as I know, I should not hand over my notice with my current T2 sponsor until my new T2 application comes back successful with my BRP. I have been offered sponsorship at a position starting on/around September 3, 2017. However, at my current job, I am required to give 2 months notice. With visa processing set to begin next week (mid/late June), I would expect my BRP would be return by the end of July (via standard service). However, if I put notice in at the end of July, this will disrupt my start date by about 3-4 weeks (depending on UKBA processing times).
However, as of the 1st of September I will qualify for a Family Visa with my partner, as we will have been living together for two years at that point.
Would it be advisable to give notice before receiving my BRP, knowing that I have a fallback option in place (family visa from Sept 1) in the event UKBA rejects my new T2 application (extremely unlikely, but as anything, always a possibility)? Or is this not safe enough of a fall-back option, and instead I should simply wait to receive my BRP (potentially through the expedited service) and negotiate a slightly later start date?
