What is the legacy law 2007?

Post by Rehan28 » Thu Jun 15, 2017 5:53 am

Hi everyone,
I want to know what is the legacy law introduced in 2007, and specifically what type of cases it covers, I came to UK in 2006 and have been refused HSMP in November 2012, as someone told me there is a legacy law introduced in 2007 which say anyone came to UK before 2007 can apply for permanent residence under this law. So please if anyone have an idea about this and clarify this I will really appreciate it.
Cheers

What is your current immigration status in the UK?

Give us your full immigration history in the UK (in at least month/year) for us to assist you further.

Hello,

I am also interested about it because I know someone who's been living in the UK for 20 years and not exercising his Treaty Rights. Perhaps he could benefit from the Legacy Law 2007.

Thanks,

Trevor

I believe that the "legacy law" that the OP is referring to is the HSMP judgment and is therefore limited to people who applied for HSMP visas before 2008. It will likely not apply to EU citizens present in the UK, but not meeting the residence requirements of EU law.

Hi,
Thank you for responding toy post. I came to UK in March 2006 on a 3 years 8 months student visa, before the end of that visa I applied for PSW(post study work) visa and got 2 years visa, in February 2011 I applied for HSMP visa but unfortunately I have been refused and I did all the appeals and stuff but didn't get the visa, then I applied for a humanitarian base visa, which is still pending.
