Are Tier 4 Students Considered 'Resident'

Post by JFrancisTT » Mon Jun 19, 2017 8:00 pm

Good Day,

I was a student from 2011 to 2015 on a Tier 4 Visa. After that I switched to Tier 2, but I have hopes to join the royal navy and they say that you must be resident in the UK for 5 years prior to applying. I can't find answers to this anywhere. Are students classed as being 'Resident'?

"Resident" does not have a specific meaning in immigration terms. So this is not an immigration matter, just a matter of what the employer themselves means by "resident", and whether you meet it.
I do not give immigration advice. I refer you to Immigration Rules, guidance, other online content and to your sponsor.
