FLRM extension but Spouse Passport not available.

Hi Guys,

I just want to ask if a Spouse's British Passport compulsory to submit with partner's FLRM extension application.
My friend will submit his application on first week of July but his wife who is a British citizen will be travelling out of country on 10 August. He is worried whether to submit his wife's passport or not as they may not return the documents back by that time.

What do you guy suggest? Can he submit her birth certificate instead?

No you do not need to include the spouses passport along with the application, a photocopy of the passport will suffice.
