Affidavit sworn for Foreign Birth Registration

Post by Elli » Wed Jun 21, 2017 4:45 pm

Hello,

Has anyone had an application approved for Foreign Birth Registration with a sworn affidavit instead of a notorized copy of parents/grandparents passport?

I was advised by the London embassey to get an affidavit sworn as I'm estranged from my father (and therefore paternal grandmother who I will be claiming citizenship by decent).

I want to make sure I have the right information in written in the affidavit for the embassy before I send it off!

(Is it enough to state I am estranged an therefore cannot obtain a notorized copy of parents/grandparents passport? Or Should I add details of the circumstances of estrangement?)

Wondering if anyone has had experience of what to write for an affidavit for FBR?

Many thanks.
