ILR Domestic Violence route

Post by EsperZombie06 » Wed Jun 21, 2017 11:24 pm

Hi

New here. Does anyone know what happens after someone is granted ILR on the DV route? What happens to their spouse? Can you choose not to press charges if you want? Friend is scared and doesn't want to get him in trouble with the law. But I'm trying to get my friend to take this route as she faces emotional abuse at home right now.

Thanks so much
Esper

In order to prove domestic violence (physical or emotional abuse), she will have to submit evidence of either a police or medical report of incidents which have occurred.

Is she still living with the husband?

Thanks so much for the reply Casa. Yes she is. I was thinking the evidence could be letters from a Dr and therapist... would that work?

Possibly, but this may be difficult if she is still living with the husband. When would she qualify for ILR as a spouse?

Two years, unfortunately. I'll try talking to her. Thank you for your help
