Evidence of joint address?

Post by sydavis » Thu Jun 22, 2017 4:30 am

I am currently in a relationship with a Irish Citizen and we are currently looking into having me move to Ireland after we are married. ( I am a ICU nurse in America, we figured it would be a little bit easier for me to move there as a nurse opposed to the field he works in also Ireland is just better in general than America IMHO.) I was looking through the requirements for the spousal visa to a Irish national :
( http://www.inis.gov.ie/en/inis/pages/wp07000024 ) the requirements are as follows:

•Your original marriage/civil partnership certificate
•Your original passport
•Your Irish spouse’s/civil partner’s original passport
•Evidence of your joint address

Everything on here obviously makes sense to me except the 'evidence of your joint address' - I am not sure how we would have a joint address if I would not be permitted to legally live there yet? As I am assuming most mortgages or leases require you to be a citizen or have a visa of some sort. Would having a joint banking account or having some of my mail addressed to his flat fulfill this requirement? Possibly have a utility bill in my name? Any information would be greatly appreciated. :)

Are you currently living in the US with your husband to be?

If yes then you will need to provide evidence you live together as to satisfy INIS that the relationship is not fictional. So whatever utility bills, rental agreement, mortgage etc you have in the US should be ok to use. The proof of address doesn't have to be on joint names so long as they are from the same address.

One more thing, if you are planing to work as a nurse in Ireland make sure that you start the registration process now as the NMBI can be slow especially outside the EU. This is particularly important for you because once you have the Irish registration sorted you'll be spoiled for choice of job offers.

I currently am a recent graduate from University so I am still living with roommates in a apartment in America, he is finishing up his degree in Dublin and resides with his parents. We plan on obviously getting a flat of our own once I have permission to live there. So that was my main concern of how to get a joint address when we don't live together or currently share finances since we live in two opposite countries. We both just travel to each other on a regular basis and have done so for years now.

And yes already working on the process of meeting all the requirements for the NMBI, working on getting my experience here in America so I don't have any issues finding work right away in Dublin :)

Hello, I am wondering that does joint proof of address means to have one proof of address with both the names of spouses or it can also be fine if two different proofs of address with each person name with same address?
( for instance : my husband mine individual bank statements with same address could be fine for joint proof of address? )
