YMS for Japanese national - name change passport question

Good Morning,

I would appreciate if someone could help me with this query I have.

Me and wife live in Japan and have recently married. We are going to apply for the Youth Mobility Visa in July when the ballot opens however we do have an issue or so it appears.

My wifes passport is valid but still has her maiden name (Japanese) and she hasnt changed to it to my last name yet. If she changes it now there is a chance she will not get the passport back in time to apply as thre is only a 2 day window in July to do so.

She can of course apply with her current passport number but I can imagine this could cause issues if she is accepted to apply, then actually applies with a different passport (her new one)

I hope this makes sense and I would appreciate if someone could help out.
