Hi,
I'm trying to find some help because after reading everything relevant on the gov.uk site I'm still not sure about a few things and I can't for the life of me find any kind of relevant contact info to a human being on that website who I could ask...
As far as I understand the info on how to become a UK citizen as a current EU (Hungarian) citizen first after 5 years I have to get a permanent residence card, then after another year I can apply to be a citizen. But I can't find reliable info about what exactly is considered "being here", being a residence. It will be exactly 5 years in a few days since I came to the UK. In the last 3 years I've been working full time so that part is not an issue. But when I first came here I was a live in nanny for a year and a half, at that point I didn't apply for an NI because I was told I didn't need to. (But I opened a UK bank account right away and my "pocket money" from the family I lived with arrived to that every week.) After that I was in Hungary for a short time, came back and started working as a nanny again (that't when I applied for an NI, knowing that soon after I'll have a "proper" job so I'll need it.), left this family short after when my partner arrived to the country and we moved in together. He started working and after about a month I joined the same job.
So my question is really: do I qualify now, the "nanny years" count or not? If not as employment, can I claim them as a self-sufficient period? If yes, what do I need to prove how I spent that time? If not, how do I know when exactly do I qualify?
Or alternatively, can anyone give me any advice on who to contact for some advice based on my individual case, not on generalities?
Thanks is advance!
