Tier 2 extension - start date

Post by Akorotaeva » Mon Jul 03, 2017 8:32 pm

Good evening!

I am applying for a Tier 2 (Change of employer) in person on August 14th/15th. My CoS start date is September 4th. I've read here that on the basis of para 222 you are allowed to work for your old employer until the start date on your new CoS. My current visa (i.e. old employer) is until Feb 2018, so lots of time left on it.

Is my interpretation correct? I'm only worried because the UKVI helpline was misleading and I was told I have to cease working for my old employer the moment I get my new visa approved, which seems very different to what the guidelines say...

I'd like to keep working for my old employer until August 3rd.

Hello again,

A couple of small questions about the application. I've now submitted it and have booked a Premium appointment.

On the application, it asks whether I am or have ever been known under other names. I have, so entered the old title, first name and surname. It then asked me the same questions again, so I had to say no to proceed. On the application, the details appear as such:

CURRENT FIRST NAME + SURNAME
OTHER NAME + SURNAME (old name)
Are you or have you ever been...? - No.

Is this alright? Seem a bit strangely worded to me... I assume as my previous name appears on the application, it's fine.

Also, I am making a change of employment application. The form is simply titled Tier 2 (General) Leave to Remain. This is correct, I assume? There isn't a specific form for changes of employer?

Sorry, the above two questions have been sorted (all good).

A final, hopefully, query -

Do I need to show English language evidence if I am changing employers? I'm a bit confused as I never supplied any evidence with my original Tier 2 application (as I was switching from Tier 4, so was exempt).

It's a change of employment application, not an extension with my current employer.
