Tier 2 General and cos issue

Post by supriyahandoo » Tue Jul 04, 2017 4:08 pm

Hello,

I request your help with my current situation.

My new employer has sent me a Cos which is for 1 year. I wanted to know does that mean I'll get only one year of tier 2 visa or i get standard 3 year visa but im allowed to work only for 1 year unless my new employer issues a new Cos.
Plus is there any advantage on being unrestricted cos than restricted one.

Thank you so much in advance.

You will only be given a visa according to the Cos. So yes , your employer will need to assign another Cos next year. It doesn't make any economic sense because you pay the same application fee as for 3 years. And then pay IHS for 1 year.
Are you already on tier 2 and then changing job?
What visa are you currently on .?
I am not a lawyer and do not claim to be one. All my comments here are based on my opinions, experience and interpretation of the appropriate UKVI guidance documents and immigration rules.
