This is going to be a long story however there is a question at the end so please read. I am Canadian and work for a company in Ireland. On April 23rd I entered Ireland at Dublin. I had a letter from my company stating I was a new employee and I was visiting the company offices and doing on-board training. My passport was stamped and I was allowed in the country. On May 12th I returned from a Meet and Greet meeting with a client in Hungary. Again, I was let into the country at Dublin.
On May 19th, I was returning from a Meet and Greet meeting with a client in the Czech Republic, passing through Stansted Airport on my way to Cork. I was stopped at Stansted and the UK Immigration officer informed me that Cork doesn't have Irish Immigration present so UK Immigration would perform their duties.
To make a long story short, UK Immigration determined that On-Board Training was in fact work and I was in violation of my visa to Ireland. They kept me overnight and sent me back to Prague the next morning.
One of the things they did while I was held was to take my picture and fingerprints. Prior to doing this, I was given a form letter stating that I was to be photographed and fingerprinted and these records would be kept on file for 10 years. The letter further stated that if I could prove Right of Abode or British Citizenship the records would be deleted at the earliest opportunity.
Since this happened, I discovered that I am a British Citizen by Decent. I have applied for my British Passport and am just waiting for the processing of it. My question is this. Once I have my British Passport, which basically means the British Government acknowledges that I am a British Citizen, is there a request process I have to go through to have these records in UK Immigration deleted or is it done automatically?
