Investing in an Isle of Man company (Entrepreneur Visa)

Post by dennishazard » Thu Jul 06, 2017 6:31 pm

Hello all!

I am currently holding a UK Tier 1 Entrepreneur VISA which was issued on the 26/1/2016.

I was wondering if I invested £200,000 in a company incorporated in the Isle of Man, I would still be eligible to apply for a two year extension?

Alternatively, I have been told that, although my initial visa was issued by the authorities in the UK (London), the two year extension one can be issued in the Isle of Man. If this is the case, am I still able to continue to reside in London? Subsequently, apply for ILR?

Thank you for reading my post and any advice or feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Dennis

I am not an expert on this, but as I can figure out
1. You have to invest in an UK business. I can't see how a company incorporated in the Isle of Man can qualify as an UK business. If you want to invest in Isle of Man, you will need a T1E from there
2. To apply for the ILR in UK, you should have an T1E issued in UK. But you can use the period under the T1E issued in Isle of Man to count towards the 5 years
My comments are in no way meant to be advisory. I have no professional knowledge of immigration. These are based on my own experience, convictions and personal interpretation of publicly available information.

Under British law, the Isle of Man is not part of the United Kingdom. Also Isle of Man has its own Immigration Rules. So your investment in the UK cannot be used to extend it under Tier 1E rules in Isle of Man. However if you invest in Isle of Man, you should be able to get a Tier 1E visa from them: https://www.gov.im/media/1213564/tier-1 ... l-2017.pdf
