Comprehensive Sickness Insurance (CSI)

Post by holyoakeroad » Sun Jul 09, 2017 8:30 am

Hi there,

I am applying for the EEA Visa as an unmarried partner. My partner is a student and I have been in the UK for the past 1.5 years on a working holiday Visa (as an Australian). Before this I was in the UK as a student, and we moved to the UK together from Australia (my partner has an Italian passport).

I understand that my partner must have comprehensive sickness insurance for the EEA EFM visa application. He has not previously had CSI.

My question is this:

Can he buy CSI now, to cover us both, and can I submit the application immediately?

Or,

Does he need to buy it now, and we will have to wait three months to submit the application?

I am confused because the application form asks for each document to be relevant three months before the application date - I am wondering if this applies to CSI. It doesn't really make sense to me that he would need CSI before the application. Surely it only matters that he has CSI when the application is made?

Any help would be much appreciated, thank you!
