I have been offered a postdoc contract in Germany with one condition, finishing the PhD before October. But the contract indicates the date to start working will be the 2nd of September. They don't want to waste time because it's a project that is restricted by time. The viva (oral examination) of the PhD is envisaged to be mid or end of September 'hopefully'). The letter stating that I have been awarded a PhD will be issued on the same day.
The problem is, as far as I know, I need both the work contract and the certificate in order to apply for the German working visa. And because the start date is not the same as the deadline of providing the PhD, I am not sure which certificate I should include.
I am thinking I can use a letter of registration (confirming I am on my 3rd year of my PhD), a letter stating the date of the oral examinations and two other letters from my supervisors that mention that they have every expectation that there will be no issue. Would that be okay?
Thanks.
