EC Approved for Unmarried Partner

Post by bkbraa » Tue Feb 12, 2008 9:03 pm

My partner and I just got our EC approved -- his visa says HSMP and my visa says HSMP Dependant. Our EC was approved within an hour of them starting to work on it, so we must have submitted decent documentation.

This forum and others do not really have information for applying for EC for Unmarried Same-Sex Partners, so I thought I would let people know what we submitted to gain EC for me, my HSMP partner's "dependant." We don't have joint accounts or other joint asset ownership, so had use other documents to show that we have lived in a marriage-like relationship for over two years.

To support our 12+ year relationship:
*Statement describing our relationship
--how long we've lived together, why we don't have "civil partnership"
*2 years' bank statements for each of us
*Statement from bank that we've had account householding for 2+ years
*Copy of our joint credit cards showing same number
*Copy of over 2-year old credit card statement showing both our names
*Copy of our over 2-year old driver's licenses with same address
*Copy of our health insurance card showing both our names
*Copy of domestic partner declaration for health insurance purposes
*Copy of letter from health insurance company showing coverage length
*Copy of our wills, each declaring the other his domestic partner
*Copy of each of our durable medical power of attorney
--these designate the other as having power to make medical decisions

As my partner's dependant, I also submitted:
*Statement from my partner that we intend to live together in UK
*His HSMP letter
*Copy of his passport
*Copy of 3-months of his bank statements

Good luck!
