Is my son eligible for British citizenship?

Post by Chrisokama » Mon Jul 10, 2017 10:51 pm

Hi guys,
Please, I need help regarding my son s application. I came into the country with spouse visa, got my citizenship in 2009 and applied for my son to come into the country. He got into the country with indefinite leave to enter under 18 child settlement visa. He came into the country in 2011, he has been here for over 5 years, he hasn't gone outside he country ever since. He's record is clean, no conviction or any incounter with the law.

He doesn't know his dad/his dad is abroad so I am his only parent that looks after him. My question is being that I am a citizen before he came into the country back in 2011- I'm I able to register him for a British citizenship?

He's 17 and turns 18 in October, he's visa for child settlement expires soon as he turns 18. What are the chances? Do I need to apply for indefinite leave to remain? He already has indefinite leave to enter, is he eligible for a British citizenship? I'm afraid too because he's visa expires when he turns 18 in October.

Your help with be really helpful. Thanks in advance

If he entered with ILE, then there should have been no expiry.

You can register him under section 3 (1). If approved after he turns 18, you may need to pay an additional ceremony fees.

Hi, thanks for the reply.
He came with ILE, I have seen that ILE is similar to ILR. Thing I'm scared about is that the ILE is a child settlement visa U18, it has it written on the passport type, and doesn't that mean the passport will expire as soon as he turns 18?
