MN1 Certificate NOT received yet (Passport already received)

Post by plabo » Tue Jul 11, 2017 3:24 pm

Hi

I applied for my daughter's MN1+PP using NCS on 9th March and received her UK passport on 30th June.

It has been more than 10 working days since then and we have not received her Certificate of Registration yet.

I have emailed furthernationalityenquiries@homeoffice.gsi.gov.uk and after calling the HO after 10 working days have gone by, the advice given by them has been to also email citizenship.support@homeoffice.gsi.gov.uk which I have do so. No replies have been received from either email addresses to date.

Till today i.e 11th July, we still have not received the Certificate in the post.

Any senior members on this forum who can help me escalate the matter please?

Emailed citizenship.support@homeoffice.gsi.gov.uk on 10th July and got the following reply today:

Dear Mr XYZ

Thank you for your email below.

The certificate was posted to you on the 28 June and would appear to have gone astray in the post.

We will arrange for another certificate to be sent to you shortly.

Yours sincerely

It is always advisable to send a prepaid recorded delivery envelope when making such applications. You are lucky that they have admitted that it was lost otherwise you could have been spending hefty amount of money to get a replacement of such a valuable document.

I think the prepaid envelope is only considered for secure return of original documents and the Certificate is always sent by 2nd class post in a A4 size white envelope all crumbled up.

You PROBABALY applied in the old days when NCS was not there and submitted his original documents. I used NCS and kept all original stuff with me so really was not keen to send a prepaid envelope for secure delivery.

Interestingly, I know people who HAVE sent such envelopes and they have been returned back empty with the HO using its own mind to use 2nd class Royal mail.

Nonetheless, I hope the Certificate reaches me as it is a life long document for my daughter and CAN be needed at any age, especially at time of renewal of passport to show her entitlement to British citizenship.

In reference to my earlier email, till today i.e 22 July, we still have not received our daughter's certificate (Case ID xxxxxx).

I have lodged a referral with the Home Office help line as well but no one has yet called back.

Certificate FINALLY received today on 27 July ~(dated 27 June 2017) stating on top left corner with a engraved stamp "I HEREBY CERTIFY that this is a true extract of the Home Office record of the certifcate of Registraton issued to XX (signed by someone) For Head of Nationality Directorate 24th July 2017 as the Royal Mal lost the original one sent earlier and didn't reach me after which I chased them up.

In the end, absolute MISERABLE service by the Home Office despite paying thousands of £££ all these years and not sending mportant documents by 1st class signed for post. They initially started this mess earlier by not deducting both my children's passport fees and delyaing my daughter's case despite both applications were submitted together on the same day through NCS. Anyways, hope this post will help someone in the future if he lands up in a simlar problem as I did.

You can see this thread for the passport fee deduction problem as well with my daughter's case.
