Can I visit the EU countries without having a visa?

Post by Denis888 » Thu Jul 13, 2017 1:15 pm

I am a Russian citizen and my wife is a Ukrainian citizen. Russian citizens have to apply for a visa in order to visit EU countries. However, Ukrainian citizens no longer need a visa to visit any EU country. Now I have been living in Ukraine for many years now and I have a Permanent Residence Permit here in Ukraine. Which allows me to live in Ukraine for the rest of my life and live as any other Ukrainian. The only thing I can't do is vote as far as I am aware. My question is, as I have a Ukrainian Permanent Residence Permit, can I also travel to an EU country without having to apply for a visa(like Ukrainian citizens can)? Do I still need a visa, in order to visit an EU country?

Immigration status and nationality are altogether two different things. Unless Ukraine joins EU/Schengen as a full member your residence status in Ukr has no consequence to the rest of EU.
