Travel to Schengen, without visa, for EEA-family members

Post by Jorgepreciado » Thu Jul 13, 2017 10:33 pm

Help please!!!
I will explain my situation... my husband is from Ecuador and I am portuguese. When we got married in 2006 he got a 6 months visa came to the UK after that he got a 5 year EEA family permit residence and after that one he got the permanent residence in 2012. When he had the 5 year eea family permit we traveled to spain and never had problem, yesterday he was denied to fly to spain by easyjet they said he does not have a valid document to travel to spain and he needs a visa.
That was so distressing my children were so disappointed they've been waiting for this holidays for a long time. The easyjet person said you can go on your own with the kids and my daughter said I AM NOT GOING ANYWHERE WITHOUT MY DAD. They told me they've called Spanish immigration to ask if he would be allowed to entre the country and that they said NO he will be denaid here. I honestly don't believe I am looking for answers are they right? So my husband will need a visa for every country he visits in Europe?

The whole of south America can travel to Spain visa free, only 2 countries are denied this privilege, Bolivia and Ecuador.
Hope you can find a solution to this problem, but seems you will have to get a schengen visa for him in the future

The PR he has should be based on EU law. The PR also has to say " family member of an EU national" this is very important. If it doesn't I am afraid UKBA has given him the wrong permit maybe call them up. If it does say it, what the airline did was totally illegal.
