Tourist visa refusal for my partner.

Post by turnipandchips » Sat Jul 15, 2017 11:27 am

Hi looking for some advise for our next step following a visa refusal. Thai girlfriend tourist visa to the UK.
Brief history, was introduced to my girlfriend by mutual friend December 15. at this time only spoke briefly before I came home to the UK, we then started talking on line August 16 before my visit to see her in September when we then got together as boyfriend/girlfriend.
This was all explained in my covering letter for the application.
Fast forward to now and visa rejected as follows: -

"On 29/06/17 you were interviewed in connection with your application, you stated during interview that you first met your boyfriend in August 2016. You later amended that statement to say that you first met him some 2 years before that. That it was in fact 2015 that you first met him. But that you first started seeing each other (as boyfriend/girlfriend) in August 2016. The endorsements in your sponsors passport indicate that he was not in Thailand in August 2016. But that he entered on 3rd September 2016. I find it strange that you would be so unsure about an important event in your life.

I note that you have submitted an employment letter which indicates that you have been granted two months leave of absence from your employment as a receptionist, It would appear to me that your employer is able to dispense with your services for a period of two months. Then your continued presence in Thailand is not essential to the running of their business.
Given the above, I am not satisfied that you are genuinely seeking entry for the purposes permitted as a visitor nor am I satisfied that you intend to leave the uk at the end of the visit as required by paragraph v4.2 a and of appendix a of the immigration rules".

So am I wasting time (And money) reapplying again straight away? She says she told them during interview that we started talking online in August and met in September...is it worth shortening her visit to a month instead? She has worked for her boss for 11 years which is why he is being flexible, should this be covered in another letter from her boss? any advise appreciated as not sure where we go from here
