Non-EEA Family Member Travelling to Lisbon

Post by Zuly1820 » Mon Jul 17, 2017 9:53 am

Hi all,

My husband has received an EEA Family Member to join me in the Uk recently.

I am a Portuguese national living and working in the UK for the past 6 years.

I would like to go to Portugal with my husband for a short trip.

From what I read he doesn't require a visa as long as I am travelling with him. However everything I read mentions that he must be in the possession of a residence card which is not the same as the EEA Family Permit?

If he is allowed to travel with me without a visa could you direct me to the specific laws so I can take it as a back up?

Thanks in advance,

Zuly

Take out his residence card and see if the sentence "family member of EEA/EU/Union citizen/national" is clearly mentioned. If yes, then he can travel with you with this card if not, I am afraid he has to apply for a schengen visa (issued free of charge) since airline will not let him board the flight in the first place.
