Can my Half-Chinese, Half-British Son travel to China?

Can my Half-Chinese, Half-British Son travel to China?

Hi there, not sure if anyone can help. I'm British, my wife is Chinese and we live in Malaysia. My 4-month-old son already has his British passport and we're wondering whether he can also get a Chinese passport? It seems that China doesn't recognise dual nationality. Is there any way around this? We want to travel to China, but his Malaysian visa is in his British passport. Would there be any way to leave on his UK passport and enter China on a Chinese travel document?
