Marriage visitor visa or standard visitor visa??

Post by Bsolom19 » Sun Jul 30, 2017 10:05 pm

I am a British citizen, living and working in the UK. I just got legally married to my finance (ethiopian citizen) in ethiopia. As he is currently working in ethiopia, he is not planning to move to uk to settle for now hence we are not going to apply for a spouse visa. However, for now I want him to come and visit me in the UK ( for 3 month) and in the future we will apply for spouse visa. My question is which visa do we need to apply for his visit to uk? Marriage visitor visa or standard visitor visa? What do I need to do to notify uk regarding my marriage ? My husband never traveled to Europe or usa so we worried that if he applies for standard visitor visa he might get refused. Please help!!

Standard visitor. The marriage visitor visa is intended for unmarried people who wish to marry in the UK and not settle.
