Croatian Visa

Hello,

I am a British National and my wife is a Non-EU citizen living with me. She is on a spouse visa which is due for the first 30 month renewal on the 20th October 2017.

We were hoping to visit Croatia on the weekend of 18th to 20th August to attend a friends wedding. Is it even worth applying for a schengen visa as I think you need to have a 3 months validity on your UK visa to apply for a schengen visa isn't that correct? Also someone advised us that not to leave UK 3 months before your visa expires as that can cause problems at Immigration when coming back?

Can you guys advise?
