ILR on a long residence with criminal conviction

Please I need advise about my current situation, I'm due for ILR on a long residence by 21 of sept 2017 but I have a criminal conviction around 2014 which I was convicted for 8 months and spent 4 months in custody.

1. I want to know whether I should apply for my ILR and also

2. Whether the conviction will not affect my application.

Were you convicted and sentenced for less than 12 months ??
