Filipina Citizen and French Citizen, need advice!

Post by CamomileTea » Fri Aug 04, 2017 4:53 pm

New to the forum here!

I'm a dependant of my mum, and have been living here for 7 years in the UK, I've met my boyfriend/fiancé 4 years ago and have been together for more than 3 years.

My mum had appeal her case on the first tier tribunal court which was refused, but she can appeal. She does not want to appeal anymore and wants to voluntary exit the country.

My boyfriend and I don't want to be apart, because yes yes we love each other and plans to marry soon.

My question is which one is easier?
To get married here or to exit the UK with my mum and get married in the Philippines then Apply for an EEA Permit.
How long is the processing time for an EEA Permit, anyone knows?

Info:
Me - Living in UK for 7 years. My passport, which is now expired is still with the HO.

BF - French citizen who has been living here for 6 years, has a permanent residency document, employed.

He lives in Oxford and I live in Shropshire. I always go there almost every month to see him, and stay with him for about 1-2 weeks. I have train tickets (because memory keepsakes) to prove it. We have tons of photos together.

I'm aware that I need my passport to get married here. And honestly I read a lot of forums regarding marriage of a non-eea foreign national who is subjected to immigration control, and it sounds sooo stressful. I don't wanna get "arrested" by the HO on my wedding day and be treated like a criminal.

So please can anyone give advice? Thanks guys!

If you want to get married in the UK you need to give notice of marriage at a designated registry office. It usually takes 28 days for the process to be done, but if can get extended to 70 days if the Home Office decides to investigate further. To give notice of marriage you need to show a valid passport.

I guess your best option is to get married in the Philippines and enter with a family permit.

I hope this helps

Yeah I am aware of this, but thanks! Just hoping the HO will grant the EEA permit to enter UK once we are married, a bit pessimistic due to the Brexit and the sort.
