Naturalisation and penalty points, please help.

Post by startimes7 » Fri Aug 04, 2017 5:42 pm

Hi there,

I have applied for naturalisation and british passport approximately a month ago, I have since received (or will be receiving 3 - potentially 4) points on my license, which will be confirmed and arrive by post in the coming few weeks. Will this affect my application which has already been submitted?

The points I got were for driving at 66mph in a 40mph zone. The officer said best case scenario will be £100 fine and 3 points, worst case will be a letter from court with an increased fine and 4 points instead of 3. He said I can choose not to contest it and plead guilty to the offense and accept the charge by sending a letter instead of appearing in court.

What will happen now in terms of my application for naturalisation? Will the home office be notified of this penalty and how does it affect my application?

Many thanks.
