Apply from inside the UK

Post by maneliuk » Sat Aug 05, 2017 2:59 pm

Hi,

I have a question that may seem silly. I want to apply for an extension of my Tier 4 visa but at the moment I am not in the UK and I am in holiday in my home country for a while. As I want to apply at a PSC I worry that the appointments may be gone. So, I want to submit and book the appointment while I am in holiday and then attend a PSC when I come back.

However, when I tried to fill the form the first question is that "Are you currently in the UK". Ok, I am not at the moment and also when I am going to submit the form I wont be. However, I am in the UK when I attend the PSC and submit the documents.

So, what can I do? Can I reply yes now and go ahead or I should be in the UK while I am submitting the online form?

Any thought or similar experience?

It is never a good idea to lie on the form. I advise you submit the form online in the UK. In the unlikely event that there are no appointments within the 45-day time frame, you can do a standard (by post) application.

But it is always best to get advice from the international student adviser at your university. That's their job to support students with Tier 4 applications.
I do not give immigration advice. I refer you to Immigration Rules, guidance, other online content and to your sponsor.

The universities do not know most of the times. I am not going to tell lie. I am actually in the UK at the time I am going to submit the documents. Also, I will never apply by post it is time consuming and risky.

You must be asking the wrong person. Every university has an international student adviser who is a trained and regulated expert in student immigration matters. If they don't happen to know the answer off the top of their head, they will seek advice for you.

why not check if the university can send your application in a batch system? i remember my application went that way.
all international student applications go in a batch by the university. the university has a direct contact at the case processing unit who they can enquire if the application takes longer than it should. check with your uni, not all universities offer this.
