Query on applying for ILR

Hello! Im on a tier 2 general migrant visa form 11/2014 to 11/2019. I am planning to apply for ILR in 2019 given that i will be in the UK for 5yrs then. My question is for my husband. He is on a tier 2 dependant visa as my dependent but he came to UK in 12/2015. I have read the eligibility in gov.uk that dependants must be in the UK for 5years before thay can apply? By 2019 i will be in the uk for 5years. But my husband will just be 4 years. Can he apply with me at the same time? Or does he have to extend one more year to be eligible? he cant apply with u.
once u get ilr, he will need to extend. the extension will be for 3 years. default duration.
once he completes 5 years, he could apply, as per the rules today.
What the rules will be in 2018, or 19 or 20 is anyone's guess.

Thankyou for your reply. Just in case the laws dont change. What visa will he have to apply to for his extension? Because if i apply for ILR In 2019 there will be not enough time for us to wait because our visas will expire by nov2019? I was planning to apply 28days before my visa expires. So im concerned about his status by then. If i apply for ILR, there will not be ample time for him to apply? Does he needs to wait for my ILR STATUS before he can apply for extension? or can he still extend his tier 2 dependant visa while i am processing my ILR? Or is it wise to just apply for another tier 2 general visa for myself and him as dependant for 3yrs? So by then both of us will be in the UK for 5years.

he will need pbs dependent extension.
Ideal will be for your ilr to come through before you apply his.
However, he MUST apply before his expiry date. So he could apply and give reference to your application and say process it after decision is reached on your application.
you could also apply same day ilr.
