Hi All,
I am recently being issued with the British citizenship, however, i had a small issue with the name on my current Indian passport- it didn't havd the sur name. So whilst filing the application for naturalization I requested if my sur name could be put as it was missing. so they have issued the citizenship with first name and surname. However, they have also mentioned in the letter that when applying for the British passport I should have the exact same name on my Indian passport as issued on British citizenship letter. So the questions I have
1. I have the Indian passport which I would need to withdraw anyway. So how does it make sense to change the name on the Indian passport which will take months when I have to withdraw it anyways as India does not entertain dual citizenship.
2. Do I have to withdraw Indian passport first if yes how does it even matter if there was the surname as empty? because on the letter it states that the reason for the same name to appear is that the person does not have two different names on two different passports. In my case, it will be only British as Indian will have to be withdrawn.
3. worst case if I have to apply for the new Indian passport so do I have to do it before attending the ceremony and if I apply it after the ceremony it would appear void as I would have already attained the British citizenship.
I am really confused and not sure what to do.
Will truly appreciate all the help here.
Many Thanks
