I'm and Irish and American citizen and my American girlfriend has come to stay with in Dublin until May when we will return to the USA. She's been here already on a 90 day visa and didn't overstay then, but is currently here until Friday and she's worried about overstaying.
I understand that the you don't get a passport stamp upon leaving Ireland, and upon entering America your passport is just stamped with the date. Am I right in thinking that along as she doesn't come to the attention of the authorities, overstaying is not a problem? She's not currently working or planning to work and isn't likely to be arrested.
If overstaying is a problem, is it a better idea to take a short holiday to an EU country other than UK so that she can get a new 90 day stamp?
And lastly, if she overstays and then we subsequently leave on a short holiday, is there anywhere she can get in trouble?
I'm convinced there isn't likely to be a problem from the things I have read on here and other websites but she's really worried and asked me to post this question here.
Thanks in advance for any replies, and I'd just like to say that half an hour spent reading this website has been much more help than days of trying to deal with useless bureaucrats.
