Hello
I am living in the UK under an ancestrary visa. I had a baby in the uk 18 months ago. We have travelled out of the UK several times as a family, on our second trip the customs officer told us that our child would be entitied to a British passport. I made several enquiries after this advice to discover that the child could not get a passport until our status had changed to indifinite leave to remain. On our last trip, we arrived back into the UK and were pulled aside because the child didn't have a visa (first thing we had heard as our child was born in the UK). The officer issued us with a visitor pass so the child could enter and told us to get their visa sorted within 6 months. I applied for the child's visa as a dependant to mine, and we were rejected as the child had been issued with a visitor status (on our last arrival into the country).
As you can tell I have received conflicting and detrimental advice from several customs officers which has led to my child's visa refusal.
I should mention that we are wanting to apply for leave to remain in May 2018 when my visa expires.
Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated.
