Switching to Parent Visa after Separation (on Spouse Visa)

Post by GeorgiaB123 » Wed Aug 16, 2017 9:35 pm

Hello

Thank you to all on this site - I have been following for some time but only registered today in hope of understanding what to do next.

My husband and I are separating. We have been married 12 years and have beautiful children. I am British and have sponsored him for the last 3.5 years on a spouse visa. Sadly we cannot continue together and are to separate.

He is very much involved in with the children and has been at home working self employed with limited income since we moved to the UK in 2013. He is hoping to stay on here and I am also very keen he remains for the sake of the children who are 9 and 10 yo.

My question is that he plans to apply for a parent visa as below:

What income will he have to prove so that he can maintain himself.
What evidence should he supply in terms of financial - he has been supported by me for the past few years.
He can support himself going forward but what amount would he need?

Is there anything else in your experience we/he should be aware of and need to evidence?

Any advice is very, very gratefully received.... my concerns are around our children and their wellbeing in terms of having their father in country and regular contact.

Regards
G
