Tier 4 Visa and Alleged Assessment Offence

Hello,
I am posting here in behalf of a friend. My friend is studying same university with me and he re-submitted his final dissertation. However University detected that his dissertation contains plagiarism. What are the consequences of that? He can re-submit third time? By the way he wants to switch his visa to dependant category as his current Tier 4 Visa expires on 16th September. He can quit university without graduating or he will have punishment?

This is an academic matter, not really an immigration matter unless his sponsor is withdrawing sponsorship. He needs to speak to his university about the issue and any consequences.
