visitor visa for wife and kid

Hi, I am on Tier 2 short term visa expiring on Nov 15, 2017. I want to bring my wife and kid to UK for 2 months. But due to company policy (visa validity less then 4 months) cant apply for dependent visa. So can i go for visitor visa, is there any chance of rejections and do i need to book a return ticket if they are coming with visitor visa. Thanks in advance
