British citizen by birth. What next?

Post by idunnek » Mon Aug 21, 2017 12:52 am

Hello,
I was born in the UK in 1976 to Icelandic parents, so it seems that I am a British citizen by birth.
Do I have to register as such? If so, then what is the process?

I would greatly appreciate any information.

Apply directly for a British passport with your full British birth certificate and any current passports that you hold.

Really? No hoops to jump through? Amazing.
Although, I heard that the passport application process can be sort of like hoop jumping.

Thank you for your swift reply.
