JCAP Passport application form guidance

Post by Trabant » Fri Aug 25, 2017 1:53 pm

Hi.
I just wanted to give information about my recent few calls between me and council office and passport office and UKVI about how to fill JCAP Passport application.
1) while arranging the appointment for JCAP application for my children I asked the lady how should I fill the passport form and she said that she has no idea... Please read the guidance enclosed in the application... That's it...
2) I called passport office and they said they have no idea and I should call UKVI... Passport office does not know how to do it...
3) I called UKVI and the lady was shocked and she said this is absolutely unacceptable that passport office does know how to fill the passport application and I should call them again because they must know the answer.
4) I called passport office again and the person argued with me that I have to have naturalisation certificate before applying. I could honestly say that they have no idea about JCAP...

Luckily for me very friendly people on this forum gave me a guidance by posting a link to few councils websites. And this is directed to moderators. Please consider leaving similar guidance on the main page so people like me would avoid losing lots of time Iand calling around...

Here is the guidance from Wandsworth's Council:

Application Form

Applications are made using the standard British Passport application form. These are available from the Post Office or at Wandsworth Register Office. When you fill in the form, please make sure that:

Applicants should complete sections 1, 2, 3, 4, 6 (if applicable) and 9 of the passport application form. They do not need to complete section 10 nor have the 2 photographs certified. Details of referees will be collected as part of the citizenship application.
You need to bring in three photographs. The photographs submitted with both applications must be identical (i.e. from the same sitting) and comply with the photo standards as described in the accompanying guidance. The applicant’s name should be written on the back of one photograph.
Section 1: Any applicant within 6 months of their 16th birthday at the time of application must attend the appointment in person.
Section 2: Please do not enter a mobile phone number in section 2 of the application form. Please enter it in Section 8 instead.
Section 4: Grandparents’ details are not required.
The payment mandate on Page 25 of the Application guidance must be completed, but do not fill in the barcode section. Please ensure that the security number of the card is entered in the appropriate box
If you are unsure about any requirements leave the section of the form blank and complete it at your appointment.
Passport Application Fees

Adult standard passport (32 pages) £72.50
Adult jumbo passport (48 pages) £85.50
Child Passport (under 16) £46.00

Regards and good luck to all.
