Steps for someone [partner] to move from China to UK

Post by sumsomesum » Fri Aug 25, 2017 8:53 pm

There is a lot that I have to read up on relating to this, but i'm posting this
in the hope that I will have more direction research wise as a result.

The situation isn't as definite as I will make it sound here - but there's no
point in phrasing everything trying to take account all possibilities, so I'll
phrase things definitely in line with what I would like to research.

====================

I am a UK resident, due to finish a ( maths ) degree in 2019 ( I will be
starting the second year this September ).

There is someone in China who I would like to partner with. They have a degree
from a Chinese Uni along with a masters from a Spanish university (in something
along the lines of translation, business translation or something I can't
remember exactly. I don't think it's particularly "hot" though, in terms of what
industries might be seeking or whatever).

I would like advice on how this person would go about moving to the UK. I don't
really know what the options would be here to be honest.

I'm aware that they would have to do the iElts test (and life skills).

====================

QUESTION :

What would be a path to follow in order to have someone move from China to the
UK in these circumstances?

Is there any evidence that I should be keeping re relations with this person? I
mean - should I be building up some kind of case or something as time passes?
(So as to demonstrate that the person isn't just moving over on a whim or
something of that nature).

We are not married.

====================

Sorry this is a vague post, thanks for any pointers.

What do you mean exactly by 'partner with' :?:

You don't qualify as unmarried partners as you don't appear to have been living together in a relationship 'akin to marriage' for at least 2 years.

If you want to marry, you will have to either marry in the partner's home country and apply for a spouse visa, or apply for a fiance visa and marry in the UK.

Until to explain more clearly the basis of your relationship and your intentions, it will be difficult to advise you on all the conditions you are required to meet. :idea:
