Can post graduate student apply as a Tier 2 - New Entrant

Post by rangakn » Sun Aug 27, 2017 10:18 pm

Hi,

I am a MSc student studying for MSc in Account and Finance at the moment. Also, I have an MSc in International Business and Management from a UK university.

I worked part time in two of the retailer companies here in UK

I have worked for nearly 6 years in my country before coming to the UK for my studies.

My question is, can I apply as a Tier 2 New entrant? Or will I be considered as an experienced worker?

Thank you.

It depends on the length of the COS -
Less than 3 years: New entrant
More than 3 years: Experienced worker

There are some caveats though -

If your CoS is valid for less than 3 years, you can be paid new entrant rate -

1. If you are switching from tier 4 and following applies
Tier 4 or as a student and they have received final results confirming that they have passed and will be (or have been) awarded either:
a UK recognised bachelor’s or master’s degree
a UK Postgraduate Certificate in Education
a Professional Graduate Diploma of Education
they have finished a minimum of 12 months study in the UK towards a UK PhD

2. the new entrant pay threshold can also be paid if the migrant is under the age of 26 on the date of their application for Tier 2 leave.

However, if your CoS is valid for more than 3 years, you will have to be paid 'Experienced rate" even if 1 or 2 applies.

Hope that helps.

it also depends on your age. It needs to be less than 26 years to qualify for the new entrant salary.
