Refugee settlement

Post by Mai_d » Mon Aug 28, 2017 5:39 pm

I was granted settlement (ILR) in 2013 after my 5 year refugee visa. I have only just realised that my BRP says 'Settlement' whilst others who have got ILR following their 5 year refugee status have 'Refugee Settlement' on their BRP. What's the difference? I have never travelled outside of the UK in the last 13 years and I have no passport or travel document. Would I still be eligible for the Convention Travel Document or do I now apply for a passport from my country of origin?

Applying for a passport from the country from which you've claimed asylum risks your ILR being revoked.

Return to country of origin or obtaining a passport
This will usually indicate voluntary re-availment and may lead to revocation under Paragraph
339A(i)-(vi).

Ok thank you. I thought so but someone that I spoke to was saying I could do that since it says 'Settlement' rather than 'Refugee Settlement'.
