old passport in home office

My family returned back from Uk on 1st of February 2017 through voluntary departure as our FLR was rejected. But in the airport we didnot get my husband's passport. The home office person who came to provide us our passport told us he will contact us to return my husband's passport but till now we hadnot heard any news. We try to contact UKVI but we couldnot get proper reply.
I would like to request you if you could help us to get his old passport as our old passport is still necessary to travel other country. We are facing lots of problem because of that .
