Child born in UK to parents with ILR

Post by smiles321 » Thu Aug 31, 2017 6:48 pm

Hi,
I just had a baby boy in the UK. Both me and wife have ILR,
I am applying for his passport.
In the baby' case do I also need to apply for his naturalization through MN1 form and or is he a British citizen automatically as parents have ILR and I just have to apply passport which takes 3 weeks.
Please advice.
Many thanks
B

You only need to apply for a passport. Your son is already a UK citizen at birth, due to being born in the UK to a parent (or in this case, both parents) with settled status.
