My IHS health surcharge was 0. I don't know why I wasn't charged

Post by farazk86 » Sat Sep 02, 2017 1:00 pm

Hi,

I'm already in UK doing my PhD, I am applying for my wife to stay with me as a Tier 4 dependent. I filled out the applicationa nd everything and when I clicked on the IHS payment link, I was aksed to confirm some details. I gave the missing details such as course start and end dates and where she will be staying etc.

Once all details were entered I was presented with a declaration and asked if this information was correct. I answered yes, as to the best of my knowledge, I answered everything correctly.

On clicking "these details are correct"I was told that my health surcharge is 0.0 and after clicking OK I was given an IHS reference number. I was also told that I will be emailed with this reference number.

I was never emailed, been over 5 hours by now.

While filling her application at IHS I was asked to enter the details of who she would be joining in the UK. At this point I entered my IHS number.

On the visa application I entered her date of travel to UK as 23 October 2017. My visa expires on 18 March 2018. Since this is less than 6 months, is this the reason she was not asked to pay for IHS?

Thanks

From the information you've provided - it looks like your wife is applying from outside the UK.

For visa applications made outside the UK, you need to pay if:
you’re a national of a country outside the European Economic Area (EEA)
you’re applying for a visa to work, study or join your family in the UK for more than 6 months (but you’re not applying to remain in the UK permanently)

Therefore, the IHS was 0.

Thank you. Thats what I thought, since I put her planned date of travel as 23rd October 2017 and my visa expires on 18th March 2018, this information must be picked up by the IHS website. I was worried because I thought I may have entered something incorrectly and there is no way to check the answers or view them again after they have been submitted.

Thank you for your clarification.
