I am new to the forum, but I thought that this seems like somewhere that people may have an answer to my question (the official documentation is a little obtuse, and I am still in early stages so a lawyer isn't approriate quite yet). I have had a look, but have not been able to find any previous posts that address this; apologies if I have been lapse..
My wife's best friend was deported from the UK just over 10 years ago, as an overstayer on a 2 year working visa. Since this point she has had two children and been a model citizen in her home country (South Africa).
Due to the current climate in SA, my wife and I are worried about her safety and would greatly prefer her to come back to the UK. The plan is for her to attend university, studying nursing, and try to get a sponsored post after this (I work i the NHS currently, and honestly this shouldn't be a problem, with the massive nursing shortage in London!).
So, to my questions:
- how does a previous deportation from the UK affect future visa applications?
- assuming negatively, is there any way to reduce the impact of this efect? (I read somewhere about writing a letter to the HO to have this expunged...)
- Would having children affect an application for a Tier 4? (Fairly sure it doesn't tbh)
